- Prof. Fatikow appointed as a member of the advisory board of Robotics Engineering Department at Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), South Korea. After Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, DGIST is the second high-profile research oriented university in South Korea established by the government. The concept is to develop an international center of convergence science and technology, with highly advanced technological research facilities and research-oriented education. - Prof. Fatikow is one of the winners of the national "1000 Scholars Program" in China. He was nominated by the South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, and is the only winner at SCUT in 2011. The "1000 Scholars Program" is regarded as a major effort of China's talent recruitment plans. Starting in 2008, China has planned to spend five to ten years importing overseas high-level researches into national key innovation programs, the pivotal disciplines and key laboratories, with focus on the development of high-tech industries.

Grant of the European Research project NanoBits
The project is coordinated by the Technology Cluster - Automated Nanohandling, OFFIS, and deals with the development of exchangeable and customizable scanning probe tips for the three-dimensional characterization of critical dimensions.
